- Large LCD screen
- Detachable foot controller
- Lightweight – only 10 pounds
- Attached flip chart
- Automatic needle threader
First thing’s first, the Brother HC1850 looks great. It has a somewhat contemporary design, but is attractive enough to keep on any table when not being used. However, because of its light weight – the machine only weighs 10 pounds – you’ll be able to store it away without any hassle or fuss.
You’ll notice there’s a large LCD screen that’s really easy to use, and you’ll be able to change stitches with the push of a button. The machine also comes with an automatic needle threader, which makes life so much easier. The result? No more sore fingers when trying to sew! We also liked the bobbin – this relies on a quick-set system for easy installation.
Another plus is the attached flip chart, so you won’t have to go searching online or referring to the manual if you need help with your stitching.
- No knee-lifter
- No standard accessory storage
- More expensive than some other sewing machines available on the market
There were loads of features we loved about the Brother HC1850, starting with its complexity. The fact that it was so easy to lift and transport was a definite plus, and the bright LED screen made stitching so much easier. This basically allowed us to sew in a dim light and work with darker fabrics where thread can be more difficult to see. There were also loads of adjustable speeds on the machine – all controlled from the side, making slowing down and speeding up less of a chore.
Finally, I loved the expandable table, which made it more convenient to carry out larger projects. The HC1850 will keep beginners and experienced sewers happy, and the product comes with full instructions – providing you with all the information you need for installing the item fresh out of the box.
